Pistachio and berries sounds like a trail mix argument, and Red Bull just canned it anyway.

The Winter Edition Pistachio & Berries can landed today, Oct. 26, for a limited run. Red Bull describes the taste as light pistachio with hints of caramel, a bright mix of berries on top, and a smooth finish. The can is pistachio green, it comes in 8.4 ounce and 12 ounce singles plus 12 ounce four packs, and you can get it with sugar or sugarfree.

Here is the part that made me laugh. The can does not contain any nuts at all. Red Bull says flat out that the pistachio flavor is artificial. So it tastes like pistachio, looks like Christmas, and the ingredient list is doing an impression.

Early tasters are not mad at it. The flavor first showed up inside the Red Bull Advent Calendar back in September, and it landed near the top of the calendar rankings before it ever got its own can. Red Bull is also pushing it as a holiday mixer, with a Pistachio Berry Noel built on raspberries, lime, pistachio syrup, and your pick of vodka, white rum, or mezcal.

A nut free pistachio energy drink for winter should not work. I still want the first cold one out of the case.
