I have seen some cooked menu photos in my life, but a puffer jacket covered in baked potatoes is a whole new level.

Just Eat was testing AI pictures for restaurants in the UK that had no photos on their listings. The idea sounds harmless. The results were a fever dream. A jacket potato, which is just a baked potato over there, showed up as an actual winter jacket printed with potatoes. Tiger prawns turned into a bowl of tiger cubs sitting in sauce. Cheese rolls came out looking like sushi.

It gets better. A cafe in Northern Ireland sells bacon and egg soda bread, and soda means the bread there. The AI read soda, grabbed a glass of cola, and dropped bacon and a fried egg inside it. In Manchester, a chip muffin became a sweet muffin with fries poking out the top. Plain garlic bread somehow became garlic bread shaped like an airplane.

Just Eat told the BBC the pictures are coming down and the trial is paused, with the line that new tech "isn't always quite right the first time." The wildest part is the company said a person checked every image before it went live. A person signed off on tiger cubs in sauce and hit publish.

Order the jacket potato if you want. Just do not expect it to keep you warm.
