Pepperidge Farm Made Cookies Out of Sourdough and Walmart Has Them First

Sourdough had a big few years, and now it wants your cookie jar too. Pepperidge Farm just turned the stuff into a cookie, and I need to know how tangy we're talking.

The new Sourdough Cookies are made with real sourdough, and the brand built them soft and chewy. Puratos, the bakery supplier, calls sourdough the top bakery trend of 2026, which tracks when Taylor Swift spent a chunk of a New Heights podcast last August saying she thinks about sourdough about 60 percent of the time.

Three flavors are out. Dark Chocolate Sourdough with Brown Butter has dark chocolate chunks in the dough. Cinnamon Sugar Sourdough with Vanilla Bean has pearl sugar bits that stay crunchy. White Chocolate Sourdough with Raspberry has white chocolate chips and dried raspberry pieces. Each bag holds eight cookies for $5.89.

Walmart has them now, and they're sticking around. This line is permanent, not a limited run, and it spreads to Kroger, Target, and Amazon in January 2027. One fan online already named the risk out loud: she buys a bag for the kids and eats the whole thing herself.

Dark chocolate with brown butter is my first pick, no contest. If the sourdough tang shows up the way I hope, Pepperidge Farm just started a cookie fight worth watching.
