Halloween hasn't even happened yet, and Blue Bell already dragged the Christmas tree into the freezer aisle.

The Texas creamery brought back Christmas Cookies Ice Cream on Oct. 22, a full nine days before trick or treating. Blue Bell announced it on Instagram with a straight face: "No need to wait on Santa. Our Christmas Cookies Ice Cream arrives in stores beginning today!"

That's a whole holiday cookie tray that somebody gave up on plating and churned into a half gallon instead.

The carton holds sugar cookie ice cream loaded with chunks of chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, and sugar cookies, plus red sprinkles and a swirl of green icing. That's a whole holiday cookie tray that somebody gave up on plating and churned into a half gallon instead.

Fans aren't mad about the early start. The announcement comments filled up fast, and one Kroger worker dropped the warning that matters: last year the flavor was gone by Thanksgiving, so grab it while you can. This year it only comes in the half gallon size, and it's only around for a limited time.

The flavor first showed up in 2017, and it has rolled back out before Halloween in past years too, so Blue Bell knows the playbook here. Christmas in October sounds wrong until the spoon hits the green icing swirl. Then it sounds like dinner.
