Hidden Valley Turned Its Ranch Black for Halloween and the Bottle Glows in the Dark

A vegetable platter with ranch dip, the snack table Hidden Valley's black Spooky Ranch was built for

Hidden Valley looked at ranch dressing, the most emotionally important condiment in America, and decided what it needed was a Halloween costume. So they made Spooky Ranch: the same classic ranch flavor, but pitch black, sold in a bottle that glows in the dark.

This is the brand's first ever seasonal release, and honestly, they picked a strong entrance. The black color comes from fruit juice and cocoa, not some lab-grade dye situation, and it is the same buttermilk, herbs, and spices you already know. It is ranch that went goth for a month. Walmart exclusive, about four bucks, 12 ounces, while supplies last.

It is ranch that went goth for a month.

The genius move here is not even the dressing. It is the bottle. A condiment that lights up when the lights go out is going to end up in the dead center of every Halloween snack table in the country, next to the spiderweb dip and the "char-boo-terie" board. Hidden Valley is already suggesting it as a pizza drizzle, a wing dip, and the web on those mummy hot dogs.

Black ranch on pizza sounds wrong until you remember that black garlic, squid ink pasta, and charcoal everything already taught us that food can look cursed and taste amazing. I respect the commitment. Ranch earned this. Nobody else was going to dress it up.
